Osteitis Center

Infections of the bone or bone marrow (osteomyelitis, osteitis) can develop into chronic disease with very drawn-out progressions, sometimes even requiring limb amputations. Breaks that do not heal, loose artificial joints and stubborn abscesses on the feet of diabetic patients can generally be attributed to a progressive infection.

At the Osteitis Center of Döbling Private Hospital, all types of infections of the skeletal system are treated based on the latest scientific knowledge and in ultramodern facilities. Thanks to advanced technology, most infections can be cleared up with just a single operation.

Dr. Heinz Winkler, an attending physician at Döbling Private Hospital, is responsible for the medical treatment. Dr. Winkler is a past president of the “European Bone and Joint Infection Society” (EBJIS) and editor-in-chief of the “Journal of Bone and Joint Infection” (JBJI).
