Dr. Carlos Albert Reck Burneo practices as a pediatric surgeon at Medizinische Universität Wien. Reck performs colorectal and pelvic reconstruction surgeries with expertise in persistent cloaca, Hirschsprung disease, and associated anomalies. He also leads research into the use of artificial intelligence in pediatric surgery.

Reck took his doctorate of medicine and surgery from Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador, then practiced as a rural doctor to women and children in the Andean subtropics. Reck held general pediatrics and pediatric surgery residencies at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and Medizinische Universität Wien, earning the Joseph R. Bongiorno award and an American Academy of Pediatrics board certification. He then acted as a clinical assistant professor at Ohio State University, taking on clinical and research fellowships with Dr. Marc Levitt at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus.

Reck is now an Austrian board-certified pediatric surgeon at Medizinische Universität Wien. He also is co-founder and chairman of Helping Hands for Anorectal Malformations, a nonprofit organization treating children from developing countries for anal atresia. Reck co-authored a book on pediatric colorectal and pelvic surgery, served on six planning committees, and produced 58 international presentations and peer-reviewed publications in the field.
