When patients choose a hospital, they want to go where they will receive the best medical care. This information is hard to come by, though. Measuring medical outcome quality is a difficult task since the basic prerequisites for an operation or a treatment are different for each individual.
Nevertheless the Mavie Med private hospital have taken on this challenging task and have begun by surveying the number of hospital-acquired wound infections as a preliminary indicator of medical outcome quality. Everything should nominally be done to prevent these infections, so the figure should approach zero. The tabel below shows the values for Mavie Med private hospitals.

One of the hospital’s key concerns is ongoing quality improvement undertaken in the interests of our patients, staff and all other stakeholders. We seek to continue to develop and improve in a sustainable way.
To do this in a systematic way, Döbling Private Hospital decided in 2019 – together with the other private hospitals of Mavie Med – to implement a quality management system in line with the EFQM criteria (European Foundation for Quality Management).
EFQM is a model for designing, developing and managing organizations and is used by around 30,000 companies worldwide to guide their ongoing assessment activities and encourage their continual improvement – the goal always being progress towards “excellence.”
Our EFQM certification represents an important component of our quality assurance and contributes to the ongoing development of our hospital.
We are very pleased that Döbling Private Hospital has succeeded in earning the distinction “Committed to Excellence” or “Validated by EFQM” for the first time in 2020. A successful re-validation took place in 2024.
The patients of Döbling Private Hospital are constantly interviewed on their satisfaction in relation to hospital stay. The estimations can be handed in as a printed out questionnaire or online.

In Mavie Med's eight healthcare facilities, around 2,100 employees from 49 nations – together with the top doctors with whom we work in partnership – once again made an important contribution to healthcare in 2025: they cared for more than 51,700 inpatients and over 135,000 outpatients in the Group's facilities.
Patients thanked us for this last year with an average recommendation rate of more than 97 percent.
